Among lofty gray rocks and crystalline waters, Cascata do Arado, in the heart of Gerês, offers a paradisiacal setting at around 900 meters of altitude. This waterfall, which moves between the rocks, gives rise to a succession of unique waterfalls that end in a lake of crystalline waters, under the bridge of the Arado river, which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Pene da Pene National Park. Although apparently inviting for a refreshing bath, access to the waterfall is not recommended for this purpose, as it is quite dangerous, due to many factors including the slippery and uneven floor.
Alternatively, walk up the stone stairs that lead to the viewpoint from where you can enjoy the breathtaking view and listen to the melodious sound of the waterfall. Nearby, a birch grove provides shade and stone tables for relaxing.
