One of the most important Bronze Age rock art complexes in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula can be seen in Gião, municipality of Arcos de Valdevez and integrated in the Peneda Gerês National Park, composed of more than one hundred rocks engraved with various symbolic motifs and geometric, where elements of quadrangular and rectangular shape stand out, with round corners, as well as several anthropomorphs (schematic figures of the human figure).
The locations of the archaeological station on Monte do Gião, almost 800 meters above sea level, dominating a vast natural amphitheater, make it equally superlative in terms of natural environment, creating a deeply symbolic whole of the social and religious reality of the human communities that made them during the 2nd millennium BC.
